<title>Description</title>
<para>The <emphasis role="bold">bos delete</emphasis> command removes the <replaceable>/usr/afs/local/BosConfig</replaceable> entry
for each process indicated by the <emphasis role="bold">-instance</emphasis> argument, on the server
machine named by the <emphasis role="bold">-server</emphasis> argument.</para>
<para>Before issuing this command, issue the bos stop command to stop the
process and set its status flag in the <replaceable>BosConfig</replaceable> file to <computeroutput>NotRun</computeroutput>. The
<emphasis role="bold">bos delete</emphasis> command fails with an error message if a process's status
flag is <computeroutput>Run</computeroutput>.</para>

<para>Indicates the server machine on which to delete the server process entry

by IP address or its host name (either fully-qualified or abbreviated
unambiguously). For details, see <link linkend="bos8">bos(8)</link>.</para>

flag with the <emphasis role="bold">-cell</emphasis> or <emphasis role="bold">-noauth</emphasis> options. For more details, see

<para>The following command removes the <emphasis role="bold">buserver</emphasis>, <emphasis role="bold">kaserver</emphasis>, <emphasis role="bold">ptserver</emphasis>,
and <emphasis role="bold">vlserver</emphasis> entries from the <replaceable>BosConfig</replaceable> file on <computeroutput>db3.abc.com</computeroutput>, a
database server machine being decommissioned.</para>

<para>The issuer must be listed in the <replaceable>/usr/afs/etc/UserList</replaceable> file on the
machine named by the <emphasis role="bold">-server</emphasis> argument, or must be logged onto a server
machine as the local superuser <computeroutput>root</computeroutput> if the <emphasis role="bold">-localauth</emphasis> flag is
included.</para>
